I want to confess

I want to confess to something

You know in Islam confessing to anyone other than God is forbiden
But I want to confess.

I didn't know how to subtract
After a lot of searching now,
Alhamdulillah, I know how to subtract

What about you, do you know?

How to subtract numbers
Can you?
It is one of the biggest shames of all my life
For example
712
-801
Without using a calculator can you tell me the answer?

is it -89?
or -111

Both answers are correct
Do you believe me?

how?

BECAUSE YOUR FIRST ANSWER IS ACTUALL THIS:  -100 + 11
The MINUS SIGN APPLIES ONLY TO FIRST DIGIT !!
Do you understand?

712 - 801
2-1 = 1
1 - 0 = 1
7 - 8 = -1
The minus sign is only for the hundereds
it is like this: ( 700 + 12) - (800 + 01)
700-800=-100
12 - 01 = 11
So the answer is (-100 + 11 )
Which is 89
Do you understand it?

Assalamualykum,

regarding confession, it is not forbidden if you are asking for forgiveness from those whom you wrong. The principal is Allah s.w.t., but if you do not confess your wrongdoings to the victim, your repentance won't be fulfilled.

And, when it comes to mathematical, I remembered what my father taught me:

Can 1 + 1 = 1?

By logical, that couldn't be, until he explained:

0.45, if rounded up, is equal to 1.

0.05, if rounded up, would be zero, but zero also mean no value, and this set of number has value more than zero, despite only 0.05. Thus a number that is more than 0 would be 1.

that become 1 + 1.

0.45 + 0.05 = 0.50. That, also rounded up, would be 1.

Thus, 1 + 1 = 1.

I remember there should be some philosophical principle connected to this but couldn't find the exact words.

Just sharing.

Sorry, I just noticed.

Basic math, 0.45 doesn't round up to 1, only 5 and above can make round ups adding 1 to the front number. But, if we change it to 0.55, adding 0.05, it would be 0.6, thus being round up would still be 1.

Waalaikumussalam..

Thanks you so much for the sharing. I admired your father's wisdom and knowledge. I think the principles related to it is number theory maybe.

I just notice that there are really some peoples read my my blogs. =)
